Rotarian and Past President of Warrington Rotary, Vishnu Patel, attended the recent 108th convention of Rotary International in Atlanta along with his wife, Jaymie.  He provided an update of his experiences at the convention, much of which centered on the final efforts to eliminate Polio worldwide.  Bill Gates was a keynote speaker who highlighted the achievements of the almost thirty years of effort to reduce the incidence from 350,000 cases in 1988 to now in 2017 where so far, only five new cases have been identified in three countries – Pakistan, Nigeria and Afghanistan.

3-D smart phone viewers were distributed to convention attendees in order to view a new video about the Polio eradication program.

At this 108th convention, attendees also celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Foundation which was founded in 1917. During the past 100 years, the Foundation has spent $3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.  Navigate to these sites to find out more about the Rotary International convention in Atlanta and the Rotary Foundation Centennial.
